SDG 14 – Life Below Water
Life Below Water aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development. For an engineering institution, SDG 14 provides an opportunity to create awareness about marine ecosystems, water pollution, plastic pollution, and responsible use of water resources.
Jai Shriram Engineering College promotes awareness on the protection of aquatic ecosystems through programmes related to water conservation, plastic pollution, waste management, and prevention of pollutants entering water bodies. Students are encouraged to understand the effects of untreated waste, plastics, chemicals, and other pollutants on rivers, lakes, wetlands, coastal areas, and marine ecosystems.
The college believes that protecting aquatic ecosystems requires responsible behaviour, scientific awareness, and sustainable engineering practices. Through awareness programmes, campaigns, community engagement, and student-led environmental activities, Jai Shriram Engineering College supports the vision of SDG 14 – Life Below Water and contributes to the protection of water ecosystems for future generations.
